Description

So, let me be honest. Ever since I came up with my character Thorn several years ago, I loved him, but couldn't draw him like I wanted to for crap, his face especially. I would always draw him from the same angle, and his snout and eye placement made his head look like a big wedge rather than a dragon-like creature. I guess I was too afraid to try to find a new way to draw him cause I thought it would change the way he looked too much, but a while ago I said screw it and messed around with some new designs and techniques. This is the result, and I don't know why I didn't do it sooner because GOD is it so much better. :D

I used a wolf's head as a guide for the shape of the snout and placement of the eyes, so I could get a mix of the eyes looking separated by the halves of the face, but still look binocular. I just made it a bit rounder and smoother. Other than that, I changed the shape of the ear a bit, shortened the horns, and changed the shape of his bangs so they go more to the side instead of... however I tried to make them before.

And of course, I wanted to show a range of how Thorn normally looks shy and innocent (thanks to the soft features and big shiny eyes), but can go to looking a bit more angry and monstrous. I got a bit of inspiration from Spyro the Dragon for the sort of "soft" dragon look, and well as Yoshi for a bit of that "cute" look, and Toothless for the switch to angry and fierce.

In comparison, these really are the better ones. Great improvement, the new head shape looks good on him

Plus, cool expressions. I especiallylike the right one, it's so ... expressive. The whole head just moves! I like it pretty much :)
